We stayed at the Hilton lake taupo on the first 2 nights of our honeymoon. The room was huge - an apartment really - and the facilities were great. We loved it! Well situated and close to town. Definitely recommend. Booked this direct with Hilton and arranged a standby upgrade. We arrived early but said we would wait if room not available. Our room with paid for upgrade was available so we checked in. We had a nice room but no view of lake. Given only in Lake Tapau for two days on a once in a lifetime trip, we asked if we could have a room with a view of the lake. We were then offered another room with great view but a straightforward delux room which we were happy with. Second day, we went out and returned about 1. A lovely hotel but dissapointed to have to chase for things to be done when on holiday.

Have just returned from two fantastic nights staying in the presidential suite. We had originally booked a three bedroom apartment but on arrival were very kindly upgraded to the presidential. Wow what a fantastic apartment. Amazing views. Each bedroom had ensuite bathrooms.

Movie theatre room. Gas fireplace. Luxurious lounges etc. We dined at the restaurant the first night which was excellent. We had room service the next night and it was excellent too. Nice pool complex but the pool wasn't hot enough for swimming. Great gym too. All staff were friendly a and helpful. We were also able to see some of the other rooms and they were also of a very high standard. Breakfast was very good as well. We will definitely be returning for another visit. It is always very pleasing to hear that we have exceeded guest expectations and this occasion ensured your stay with us was a memorable experience in our spacious Presidential Suite.

Great location overlooking the lake and Assistent Manager Karen could not have been more helpful with changing reservations and making us comfortable. We decided to head off to Taupo for a quick weekend away, and this hotel really made the trip. On arrival we were delighted to hear we had been upgraded to a one bedroom apartment.

This was huge, with a full kitchen, living area, large bedroom and massive bathroom. There was a flat screen TV in both the living area and bedroom, perfect for watching the rugby. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the whole place very clean. Little touches like bringing water and a chocolate and leaving it by the bed early evening is always welcome when you get back from going out for dinner.

The duty manager called our room at about 8pm to check that we were happy with everything, which I thought was a great touch too. The hotel pool was not quite warm enough for us to venture into at this time of year, but the spa was very hot and a great way to relax. The hot mineral pools are only a short 5 minute walk from the hotel as well.
